An Arik Air male cabin crew member was, on Monday night, arrested at Heathrow Airport, London, by the United Kingdom Border Force for allegedly carrying 2.7 kilogrammes worth of  drug.

Confirming this in a statementon Tuesday, the airline's image maker, Ola Adebanji, declared: "A member of Arik Air cabin crew was on Monday arrested at Heathrow Airport in connection with alleged possession of items suspected to be banned substances.

"The airline is presently carrying out its private investigation to determine how the cabin crew member came about the suspected banned substance."

The airline, however, promised to cooperate with the UK authorities and other appropriate agencies in their investigations even as it reaffirmed its commitment to the fight against drug and illicit substances trafficking.

Monday's's incident was the third time the airline crew will be involved in drug trafficking.
