A manhunt by officials of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for suspected drug kingpins at the Ariaria market in Aba, Abia State, has started yielding positive results.
Already, a 32-year-old man, Emmanuel Ogbonna, alleged to be a major distributor of narcotics and a conspirator in the Ariaria market attacks on NDLEA officers, has been apprehended.
The agency also declared another suspected drug kingpin, Luther King, wanted, promising a handsome reward for anyone with useful information on his whereabouts.
NDLEA Abia State commander, Mr. Dele Akingbade, disclosed that one of the leading distributors had been arrested.
According to Akingbade: “the command traced and arrested one Emmanuel Ogbonna with 16 bags of cannabis sativa weighing 147 kilogrammes. The drug was concealed inside the boot of his Toyota Camry car meant for supply to his customers.”
Preliminary investigation by the NDLEA indicated that the drug dealers were in a hurry to resume illegal drug sales to make up for lost sales following the incident of mob attack on NDLEA officers at a notorious drug area called 'Black Kingdom.'
Chairman/Chief Executive of the agency, Ahmadu Giade, assured residents of Aba that the manhunt for drug dealers at the Ariaria market would continue until all culprits were brought to justice.
