Confusion, as Adeyemi College of education gets VC, provost

Workers and students of the Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Ondo State, were on Monday, confused over the leadership of the institution following the reversal of the upgrading of the institution's status by the Federal Government.

They were in dilemma over a new circular issues by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Richard King, claiming to be the head of the institution despite a letter of appointment confirming Professor Olukoya Ogen as the Provost of the college.

Tribune Online gathered that Professor King sent a memo to the staff of the institution, on Monday, directing them to relate with him as the head of the institution.

According to the King in the memo, he had not received any memo from the Federal Government directing him to vacate his position as the Vice Chancellor of the institution.

However, some of the lecturers who spoke with Tribune Online, said both administrative and academic activities had remained at a standstill because they were confused about who actually is the head of the institution between Prof King and Prof Ogen.

They claimed to have learnt about the new development on the status of the institution on the pages of newspapers, saying there was no circular from the Federal Government on the issue.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution, Moses Akinfolarin, declined to comment on the development

It will be recalled that Ogen was the Provost of the institution until the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan upgraded some of the  colleges of education in the country to universities of education while a new vice chancellors were appointed for these institutions.

Prof King was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Adeyemi University of Education, Ondo and resumed in that capacity some few weeks ago.
