NDDC chiefs meet Buhari today

THERE is panic at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as reports indicate that the management of the commission is due to visit President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, today.

The commission had come under scrutiny recently, following a revelation contained in a report of the Auditor General of the Federation, which indicated that the commission could not account for N183 billion over the years.
President Buhari had also ordered a probe of the commission, following the release of the Auditor General's report which alleged some financial mismanagement.
Sources in Abuja confirmed that the management of the commission was billed to visit Aso Rock Villa for a meeting with President Buhari today.
A source in the know said the staff and management of the NDDC were in panic right now, as nobody could confirm what fate awaited the management after the meeting.
A source in the know said: “From all indications, the management of that commission may either be given a marching or packing order, because there are several petitions against them in respect of various issues ranging from contract splitting and the rest.
“So when we heard of the altercations between the NDDC and the office of the Auditor-General, it became a thing of concern, because there are real issues to be sorted by the management; they cant deny such.
“So at the meeting with the president, the issues have to be laid bare and solutions must be explored for the commission to be able to discharge its mandatory responsibilities to the Niger Delta.
“But we suspect that some persons are already imputing politics in the whole thing and this is uncalled for; what is wrong can only be wrong, we should not beg the question at all."
